Rap Icons Reassembled
For a while it seemed unlikely that G Unit would ever perform together again, after Yayo announced his retirement earlier this year, and 50 Cent claimed the group had been "dismantled". This June saw the gangsta rap collective, which features original members 50 Cent, Young Buck, Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo, alongside new member Kidd Kidd, take part in New Jersey's Summer Jam. "I always felt like we would be back together and doing music" Banks told Billboard.
In August of this year G Unit released The Beauty of Independence, a six track EP that will be followed up by another EP, The Beast is G Unit sometime this year. By the sounds of their new music, G Unit remain just as ferocious a force as when they emerged in the late 90s. Catch them on tour when they play in , , .
