Un gran triunfo! Maestro Don Corella has created perfection with his exquisite version of the Romeo and Juliet Ballet. I was lucky enough to attend the Saturday, October 20 performance in Philadelphia with principal dancers Pineiro and Molina. (two of my favorites). The settings, the costumes, the staging, the music--the audience was transported in time to medieval Verona and could feel the culture of those days come alive. Yet this was Ballet, and Pineiro gave us a masterpiece performance with her light as air moves, her dainty smiles, her powerful moods of both joy and despair integrated fully into dance, and her brilliant footwork and impeccable arm and body movement. Molina was strong and sweet, a true youth in love. The fencing scenes were fun and fantastic, and the corps and the supporting characters were very engaging. Of course, the memorable music of Prokofiev was amazingly done. The refurbished Academy of Music was the ideal historic venue for this lovely event. BRAVO!

A magnificent evening with the Pennsylvania Ballet! Romeo and Juliet was a lovely, heartbreaking production with amazing dancing, gorgeous sets and costumes and the powerful Prokofiev music. Pair that with the opportunity to view this on the stage of the wonderfully ornate surroundings of the Academy of Music and it makes for a very special night out. Will be coming back to see more of this wonderful company. Thank you Pennsylvania Ballet!

We went to see the show last night (10/13). The anticipated ending of their true love did not end the way we were expecting. They were not together, what happened? Sorry, the ending disappointed us.

Terrific production!

I only wish my schedule allowed me to see more performances! The October 19 cast was exceptional, and it is clear that every dancer in every scene has had optimum opportunity to shine. This company is truly world class. Zecheng Liang and Oksama Maslova made the audience believe in Romeo and Juliet and mourn their fate. He is the right combination of youthful energy and sweet charm, and her transformation from girl to woman is stunning. Philly is so lucky to have Angel Corella directing our ballet company.
