I thought the rendering lacked vibrancy, seemingly more workmanlike than perhaps it should have been. I’m also accustomed to seeing more traditional colorful seasonal props and attire during “Messiah” stagings, including bevies of poinsettias instead of the stark staging I saw last night, i. e., a bland Christmas tree on the left placed inside an elevated wooden box and a couple of equally drab wreaths above the stage. Also, I think more than one trumpet on stage would have added appeal to “The Trumpets Shall Sound”. That’s it. I’m done.
