Why see Amos Lee?

One Of Todays Folk Heroes

One of the shining stars of modern folk, Amos Lee crosses the genres of folk, soul and jazz and calls on Stevie Wonder and James Taylor as major influences. His 2011 album 'Mission Bell' topped the Billboard charts and included contributions from Willie Nelson among others. His follow-up album, 2013's Mountains Of Sorrow, Rivers Of Song, may have been met with mixed reviews, but as with any singer-songwriter of this genre, it's at a live performance where the magic is truly made.

His musical break came only after a stint as an English teacher at a second grade school in Philadelphia, alongside which he was a part-time bartender at local music bars. This musical influence saw him performing at open mic nights as be built up a network of industry contacts, one of which happened to be Bob Dylan's manager and, as they say, the rest of history.

It was Exquisitely Divine!

Saw him in Mesa ( “I only play in cities named after furniture in Spanish” Amos quipped) on the night of the Philly shooting. It visibly affected him & he shared that. He opened with Title track from Dreamland & it was absolutely amazing from there! ... Read more

AMOS LEE ROCKS !!!

Amos was absolutely incredible at the Byham Theatre in Pittsburgh last night. He was funny, engaging, great story teller, his playlist was amazing, and the show ended in a 4 song encore! I was so impressed with the acoustics, which only enhanced his already beautiful voice and talented band. And his opening act - Jensen McRae - she was excellent ! What a voice and great personality at only 24! I would go back and do it all over again tonight if I could. Love ya Amos !!! ... Read more

Amazing show!

Amos Lee and his crack band delivered a great show last night at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. A great mix of newer tunes and some of his classics. He was in great voice and backed by some extraordinary Philly musicians (with one exception...the Belgian drummer). Would go to see him again in a heartbeat. ... Read more
