Merle Haggard
The original bad boy of country music!
Why see Merle Haggard?
the one and only
Merle Haggard was one of the most important country artist to emerge in the 1960s, becoming the leading figure of the Bakersfield country music scene. Together with his backing band The Strangers he pioneered a twangy return to the genre's rough-around-the-edges roots, that was in the process of being smoothed away by the poppy strains of mainstream country. His 1969 single 'Okie From Muskogee' became his signature song, while The Legend of Bonnie and Clyde and Workin' Man Blues are among his other Number One country hits.
Haggard has maintained his legendary status over his 50 year career, becoming an inductee of the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1994. His last studio effort was 2011's Working in Tennessee, which featured a duet with another famous country outlaw, Willie Nelson. Catch the music legend when he plays in , ,
