Professor Brian Cox

Why see Professor Brian Cox?

A 21st-Century Space Odyssey

Prepare for a cosmic adventure as renowned British Physicist Professor Brian Cox touches down on our shores for this much-anticipated world tour, Horizons, where he'll be illuminating audiences on the nature of our solar system in his inimitable, affable style. Using state-of-the-art technology and LED screens, he'll explore the origins of the universe and our place in it.

First tasting the limelight as the keyboardist in Brit-Pop band D:REAM, Cox remerged in the public eye as a particle physicist and won great acclaim for his television shows, including Wonders of the Universe, Wonders of the Solar System and Wonders of Life. Since then he has become an integral part of popular science in the vein of Carl Sagan, Neil Degrasse Tyson and Bill Nye.

Excellent show!! I've been taking my kids to Jasper Dark Skies for a few years now, and when I heard that a famous science educator was coming right to our doorstep in Edmonton, I didn't want to miss the opportunity. If you've never heard of Brian Cox, he is the U.K. version of America's Neil deGrasse Tyson. Anyone who has seen Prof. Cox will appreciate his enthusiasm for science (not just his own fields of physics and astronomy but a variety of topics) and ability to translate the hard stuff into digestible and entertaining fodder for us regular folks (non-STEM PHD trilobites like me). On YouTube, search for his WONDERS BBC TV show or various interviews (check out Joe Rogan Podcasts # 610 or 1233). He brings his friend and Comedian along to lighten the mood every so often. I've read alternating complaints that his shows were too dry or the comedy took away from the "flow" of the science, so I think bringing his buddy along was a good "middle of the road" approach for the masses ...
