Why see Young the Giant with Cold War Kids?

Home of the Strange Tour

The California-based indie rockers Young the Giant continue their tour into 2017, in support of their third studio album Home of the Strange. First coming to widespread prominence in 2010, their debut album was recorded old-school style, with a focus on only recording material that they could faithfully recreate for a live audience. Having supported various acts through the last few years, this headlining tour is set to be a big pull for fans of SoCal indie rock.

Their first three singles found instant popularity with "My Body", "Cough Syrup" and "Apartment" all placing within the top five spots of the US Alternative Songs chart upon release. On these dates they'll be joined by indie stalwart Cold War Kids, who are playing behind their new record L.A. Divine. Catch them both when the Home of the Strange Tour hits in , , .

Home of the Strange Tour - some pretty damn good stuff!

I suppose the fact that Young the Giant has been around for the better part of 13 years shouldn't make it sound like I've found a diamond in the rough. The sheer number of radio- recognizable hits would make one think their following is significant in all parts of the US. But I suppose Cincinnati is not known as one of the more progressive music scenes and I shouldn't be surprised that the 4,000 seat PNC Pavilion wasn't sold out. However, that fact was lost as the lights dimmed and the entire place was pulsing and jumping to flawlessly- executed hits like "My body" (encore), "Its' About Time" and "Silver tongue". My wife and I saw them in Austin earlier this year in a smaller venue and it was a terrific concert, but what I saw last night in Cincy was light years ahead in terms of performance and aesthetics. It was a decently long set - BUT I WANT MORE and I suspected everyone else in the Pavilion did as well. Definitely one of my top 3 concerts ever. See them if you can! ... Read more
