Mamma Mia!

Mamma Mia! at Walnut Street Theatre

Why see Mamma Mia!?

How can i resist you?

Dust off your plaforms, your spandex and your feather boas Philly, Mamma Mia is coming to town! The ABBA-tastic musical phenomenon that gained the Swedish supergroup a new legion of fans reinvigorates some of their biggest hits in a sunshine-filled romantic romp that can't fail to leave a smile on your face. Created waay back in 1999 by Catherine Johnson, Mamma Mia led the charge for the jukebox musical, expertly crafting well-known songs round a brand new plot, giving audiences the chance to experience the soundtrack of their lives in a thrilling live show like no other.

Here I go again: The Story of Mamma Mia!

The show revolves around single mother Donna who is planning her daughter Sophie's wedding on an idyllic Greek Island. Unbeknownst to her, Sophie has invited three former lovers from her past to the wedding, hoping to discover which one is her father. Cue romantic shenanigans and plenty of ABBA classics, including 'Dancing Queen,' 'Waterloo,' 'Knowing Me, Knowing You,' 'Money, Money, Money,' and many more!

MAMMA MIA, LOVED IT!

I've seen Mamma Mia on Broadway 3 times. This was my 1st time seeing it at the Walnut Theater and it did not disappoint! First of all, the Walnut Theater is a lovely theater and I will plan to see other shows there in the future; the seating was great and it was most accommodating having a ladies room that several can use at the same time (unlike most Broadway theaters). As for the musical, the acting, singing and dancing were top notch! I am not sure what some of the other reviewers are referring to with regards to children at this show. I do not believe Mamma Mia is a show for children and I am very pleased that this performance was geared towards the adult audience as it made the show that much more enjoyable. Thanks to all who were involved with this production and I'll simply end with, "Bravo!" On a separate note, we had a delightful lunch at Barra Rossa Ristorante which I would highly recommend. ...
